    The world’s largest manufacturer and leading supplier of steel ArcelorMittal has partnered with demand response aggregator REstore to return up to 150 megawatts (MW) of power to the transmission grid at peak times. The company creates a 150MW “virtual power plant” by decreasing its energy demand.

  13. Government optimistic on energy efficiency progress

    The past year has seen “significant progress” in delivering energy efficiency measures in homes across the UK, according to a report by DECC. The first annual report on the Green Deal and the Energy Company Obligation, published on Wednesday 17 December, said that the department was “well on track” towards meeting its target of installing measures in one million homes by March 2015, having improved 819,000 homes by the end of September.

Bringing all these stakeholders together is no small task, which is why Energy from Waste 2015 is providing a heat network delivery session and workshop, aimed at involving all the parties around specific projects. Attendees at the workshop will be able to examine key issues, covering Financial, Commercial, Technical and Legal areas.   18. Briefing Note | Implementation of Carbon Price Support relief

    On 10 December, HMRC published its draft regulations for how relief from carbon price support will be implemented, including how it will define ‘on-site’ consumption. These draft regulations are currently open for consultation and members are encouraged to respond to the CHPA with any comments. The CHPA has prepared a briefing note which provides an overview of the policy decisions and how these policy decisions are implemented in the draft regulations.
