  1. Report | Research on district heating and local approaches to heat decarbonisation

    The Element Energy report for the Committee on Climate Change estimates the size of the near-term market for district heating in the UK and looks at the potential impact of district heating on heat decarbonisation in the medium and long term.

  2. Member Briefing | Ofgem insights paper on households with electric and other non-gas heating

    Consumers with non-gas heating systems do not typically enjoy the same level of consumer protection as gas customers, in part due to a lack of direct sectoral regulation for alternative fuels & sources i.e heating oil, LPG, solid fuel and district heat. Ofgem’s report analyses consumer experience of electric heating, and considers options to better protect consumers in other non-gas sectors. It is intended that the report inform Ofgem’s work on improving the experience of non-gas consumers within their remit (i.e electric heating users).   3. L’Oreal's 100% carbon neutral production site unveiled

    Cosmetics giant L’Oreal has unveiled its first 100% carbon-neutral production site in Libramont, Belgium, the result of a three-year collaboration with Belgian-based energy players Eneco and Bio Energie. The site uses CHP to provide heat and electricity for its production processes.

  5. TED Southend-on-Sea: Construction works for power plants and heating plants

    Southend University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has a requirement for a combined heat and power plant in the main hospital. The Trust will invite offers for design, build, commission, operational and maintenance of the plant and equipment. It is envisaged the bidder will be selected for design, build and commissioning with an operation and maintenance term of 10 years. Bidders will be selected for the Trust requirements and a PQQ (Pre Qualification Questionnaire) will be issued.

  7. Warm welcome for Chancellor's heat network funding

    The Chancellor’s decision to commit over £300 million of funding to the introduction of up to 200 heat networks was widely welcomed by industry as an opportunity to improve the efficiency of the country’s gas usage and work towards its challenging emissions targets but it has also stimulated debate on the future of the heat market. Geoff Hobbs, Business Development Director for Bosch, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of commercial and industrial technologies outlines his views on the future for heat networks including the need for more to be done at a legislative level in order to grow confidence in the technology.

The Yorkshire-based company has reached the finals for the Service Provider Award; Smart Metering Technology of the Year Award; and the Meter Data Management Solution of the Year Award.

    The Department of Energy and Climate Change (DECC) launched a consultation on the future of the Feed-in Tariffs (FITs) scheme on 27 August 2015. The consultation proposed a number of measures to control the cost of the scheme. The Government published its decision to the consultation on 17 December. The ADE has prepared a short briefing.

  15. DECC cuts Solar PV FiT by 67% and ends RO for <5MW Solar PV

    The Government confirmed a revised cut for Solar PV's Feed in Tariff. From January 2016 <10kW solar PV installations will receive a generation tariff of 4.39p/kWh, up from the 1.63p/kWh that was initially consulted on. It also confirmed that the RO would close to new solar PV oF <5MW from April 2016.
