SBR and DSBR cost recovery arrangements removed

9 Mar 2017

Ofgem has confirmed its decision to remove the Supplemental Balancing Reserve (SBR) and Demand Side Balancing Reserve (DSBR) cost recovery arrangements for 2017-18 as they are no longer needed now Capacity Market delivery has been bought forward.

In a letter published on Tuesday 7 March, the regulator said this will remove obligations on National Grid Electricity Transmission to submit methodologies in respect of acquiring or operating SBR and DSBR as well as remove its ability to recover costs for these services for 2017-18. The decision does not impact any arrangements for 2016-17.
