Dr Tim Rotheray | Director
Tim was appointed Director of the ADE in August 2013 having previously led the team as Head of Policy and Communications. Tim is responsible for the development and implementation of the Association’s vision for the energy system and oversees the Association’s strategic relationships with members, government, regulators and wider stakeholders.
Tim joined the ADE as policy manager at the beginning of 2010 from the Micropower Council where he also held a policy role. During his time in the sustainable energy sector, Tim has also worked for the National Assembly for Wales where he researched the renewable energy potential and barriers in Wales.
Tim sits on a number of working groups including the RHI industry advisory groups for OFGEM and DECC, the National Grid embedded generation benefits focus group and also OFGEM’s smart grid forum. Tim is also part of OFGEM's future trading arrangements working group, the CBI’s energy policy committee, the business energy forum and an observing member of the Electricity Market Reform collaborative steering group.
In his spare time Tim enjoys cycling and has completed the Prudential RideLondon; a 100 mile route.
John Bryant | Head of Business Development contact
John is the Head of Business Development for The Association and manages both membership and the development of new business opportunities. John has 30 years of experience in the oil & gas industry, which includes 18 years with Schlumberger. He was most recently the Vice President of Business Development for an oilfield service company in Dubai, U.A.E.
John holds a BSc in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from The University of Portsmouth and was born in Somerset in the UK but has worked and lived in various locations Worldwide including North America, Africa, The Middle East and The Far East. John is a keen cyclist and recently mountain-biked the Annapurna circuit in Nepal.
Rebecca Ellis | Business Development Officer contact
Rebecca joined the ADE in November 2016. She works with John Bryant in Business Development including membership, new business opportunities, and coordinating members’ events. She also assists with the member communications and Association publications.
Rebecca holds a BA in Politics & International Relations, recently completed her MSc in Global Governance & Ethics from University College London, with her dissertation on Renewable Energy Policy’s impact in Morocco. She previously acted as Director of Logistics & Operations for the inaugural TEDxRoyalHolloway. From Utah originally, she moved to the UK in 2012. She enjoys running and reading in her spare time.
Jonathan Graham | Head of Policy contact
Jonathan leads the Association's policy and regulatory development, working closely with members and policymakers to promote the sustainable development of the decentralised energy sector in the UK, including through combined heat and power, district heating, and demand side energy services.
Jonathan previously worked as a senior researcher in Parliament, and he has also worked as a journalist for several North American newspapers and magazines.
Jonathan holds a BA from Tufts University and an MSc in Public Policy from Queen Mary, University of London. He grew up in Vancouver and Toronto, Canada, but has lived in the United Kingdom since 2008.
Hanaé Chauvaud de Rochefort | Policy Manager contact
Hanaé joined the ADE in July 2014, having previously worked for the Mayor of Paris in the Financial Department where she negotiated renewable targets with the district heating company CPCU.
Hanaé is responsible for developing the Association’s research and analysis work, collaborating with government departments and industry in defining cost-effective policy solutions to support the deployment of decentralised energy. Hanaé holds a Master in Public Administration from Sciences-Po Paris and a MBA in International Business obtained in Singapore.
Sharon Youssefi | Policy Manager contact
Sharon joined the ADE in February 2017 and is focused on developing and promoting improvements in regulation and public policy that will facilitate and foster the development of a more local, more efficient, and more user-led energy system, with a special focus on heat networks and combined heat and power.
Sharon holds a BSc in Energy and Environmental Technology, and a Masters degree in Renewable Energy Development, and has previously worked on global energy policy for The Climate Parliament, in energy management at Local Authorities in England and Wales, and for The Energy Saving Trust.

Will holds a Masters degree in Environmental Science from the University of Southampton and has previously worked as an intern for The ADE in summer 2014, Ramboll, Southampton City Council and Atlas Elektronik.
Will is responsible for preparing formal position papers, briefings, reports and consultation responses and for managing consultation amongst members and stakeholders. Will is also focussed on the growing demand side industry, including demand side response and smart networks
Will enjoys cheese and wine, growing vegetables and is a top rated player in Ultimate Frisbee
Chris Higby | Policy Officer contact
Chris joined the ADE in 2017 and works on the Association’s policy and regulatory development team. Tasked with connecting ADE customers and policymakers, Chris helps develop CHP and DSR markets by ensuring that policy goals and commercial development are aligned so as to favour innovation and growth.
Raised in California, USA, Chris holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Tulane University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Southern California. Prior to moving to the UK, he spent 10 years working with the US government, splitting that time evenly as an employee of the US Congress and a corporate energy lobbyist.
Chris enjoys skiing, guitar, racquetball, running and golf. While he would like to be an expert at any one of these activities he’s mostly had to settle for being mediocre at all of them.
Rick Parfett | Policy Officer contact
Rick joined the ADE in March 2017. He works as part of the Association’s policy and regulatory department, focusing on combined heat and power and district heating. He is responsible for preparing briefings, reports, position papers and consultation responses, as well as engaging with members and stakeholders.
Rick holds an MSc. in Environmental Policy and Regulation from The London School of Economics and has previously worked for environmental organisations in India, Vietnam and the UK. He likes travelling, good books and animals.
Claire Wych | Communications Manager AdCert PRCA contact
Claire joined the ADE in May 2013 and provides day to day management of the Association’s communications including member communications, website content, press relations and social media. Claire is also responsible for delivering the communications strategy which enhances engagement with members and stakeholders and positions the Association as the leading voice on decentralised energy.
Claire holds a Masters degree in Environmental Governance and is currently studying for an Advanced Certificate in Public Relations.
Claire is currently training to compete in the World Cheerleading Championships in April 2017.
Dina Kamourieh | Finance & Office Manager contact
Dina joined the ADE in 2009, having previously held the position of finance analyst at Matra Petroleum.
Dina deals with all finance matters and is responsible for the day to day bookkeeping and credit control. Dina is also the ADE office manager and deals with all general office matters, in addition to providing support to the director and the team.
