The University of Warwick was chartered in 1964 on the outskirts of Coventry. Ranked as one of the top 100 universities in the world we continue to develop and grow to keep providing an outstanding educational experience and facilitating world class teaching and research.
Our campus now supports over 30,000 people every day with intensive energy, heating and water demands.
We are working to both become more efficient through technical projects and behaviour change, and to decarbonise our energy supply with a CHP (Central Heat and Power) District Heating Network. The network stretches for 20km and self-generates in excess of 60% of our heat and power needs from 3 energy centres.
A sustainable University needs everyone to be involved and so we are also investing in new engaging technologies such as WeWatt bikes (pictured) and encouraging ideas from the Warwick community. We want to be a sustainability leader in education, research and operations and so are constantly working to improve our campus and nurture sustainably minded staff and graduates.
