British Sugar - Wissington

As British Sugar’s largest factory celebrates its centenary, Wissington is at the forefront of a green revolution. The Norfolk site delivered a record £43m project to install innovative steam dryers, slashing carbon emissions by a staggering 50,000 tonnes annually from autumn 2026. Backed by government funding, this investment builds on a £17m energy efficiency overhaul completed in 2023. Together, these projects cut the site’s emissions by 25%, showing that industrial heritage and modern sustainability can thrive side-by-side.
