BUUK Infrastructure - Chilton Woods Community Heat Hub

Chilton Woods, a new community of 950 homes, was the first project backed by the Government’s Green Heat Network Fund to go live - and it’s setting the standard for how Britain will heat its homes in the years ahead. Instead of individual gas boilers, residents are warmed by a central hub using large air-source heat pumps. The site has slashed carbon emissions by up to 80%, energy is stored intelligently using thermal storage to cut costs, keeping bills lower and the grid steadier.

For homeowners, the benefits are reliable heat, hot water and hassle-free service, with consumer protection regulated by Ofgem from 2026. The network has also extend to a primary school, community centre and shops. As the UK looks to build millions of new homes, this is the model that shows the way forward.
