Today, we launched our latest report which delves into how electrifying industrial sites with co-location can help to deliver net zero electricity to 2030 and beyond.
Written by Jessica Savoie and Joanne Wade, this report responds to the UK policy gap around decarbonisation of energy use for industrial sites located outside of the six Government recognised clusters.
What we found:
⚡ Electrification could cut industrial CO2 emissions by 78%
🤝 The UK could save 770,000 jobs by decarbonising dispersed industrial sites
📜 95% of respondents to DESNZ's call for evidence on electrification said the current policy landscape was not sufficient to enable electrification
Caroline Bragg, CEO at the ADE said: “The Government has no plan to decarbonise half of industrial emissions. That’s 770,000 livelihoods on the line. Our report shows how co-locating renewables and storage at industrial sites can and should cut bills. Ministers must act now, starting with an Electrification Business Plan to match support for hydrogen and carbon capture.”
