The ADE's Missions | Big ambitions for a new ambitious Government
The ADE is launching 2 new Missions that will frame all our work for the next few months -
Empowering Energy Demand: Embracing the value of a decarbonised demand-led energy system, creating a future where households, businesses and industry are properly rewarded.
Decarbonising British Heat: Transforming how UK homes and businesses are heated, for a future where heat is secure, clean and drives economic growth
We're doing this because these 2 areas are crucial to decarbonisation in this Government but are not being recognised as such, and we have a small window of time to get them up the priority list.
For the ADE itself, in January and our discussions since, you have consistently said you want the ADE to have a much clearer vision, bolder asks and to be making an impact with more senior decision-makers.
In focusing on these Missions, I hope we can start to make real progress on all of this.
The strategic policy priorities we all discussed in January will remain.
However, those priorities and the broader work of the ADE across Policy, External Affairs and Research will now aim at bigger asks in these two key areas that respond directly to Labour’s priorities. Where needed, we will also be de-prioritising more reactive work that does not get us further in these campaigns.

Following further feedback, we have developed the key messages of each Mission further.
We have now also developed our communications plan for the Missions (noting that we will also be using all reactive opportunities we can).
We have also developed a stakeholder list for those people we will be seeking to meet over the course of the next month. This list will be updated over time and will act as a tracker for our progress.
