About ACE Research
ACE Research is an internationally respected research unit that consistently delivers ground-breaking policy research and evaluation. Its work supports that of the ADE, ensuring our policy positions and advocacy are always founded on and guided by the best available evidence and insight.
Originally part of the Association for the Conservation of Energy, ACE Research historically focused on energy efficiency, specifically in respect to frameworks for implementing energy policy in buildings, barriers to and opportunities for effective implementation and the roles of different stakeholders. Now part of the ADE, ACE Research is broadening its scope to all decentralized energy sectors, including combined heat and power, heat networks and demand response services.
The team is highly skilled in stakeholder engagement, primary and secondary data gathering and analysis, building-stock energy modelling, identification of lessons learned and best practice. The team’s work is characterized by its ability to synthesize material across technical, non-technical and other policy interest areas to recommend and enable systemic understanding of and solutions to complex challenges.

Local Stories
There is a clear need to build a stronger cross-party political consensus on the importance of decentralised energy. In response to this need, ACE Research translates the multiple benefits of decentralised into clear and engaging ‘local stories’. These combine facts and figures about the existing and potential for decentralised energy in local communities with stories from those who have already delivered and are benefitting from decentralised energy. The resulting reports engage national and local politicians, and the local press, and are helping to build support for decentralised energy.

This report is a very welcome and useful snapshot of the energy efficiency of housing stock in the constituency. The Energy Select Committee has had a good look at this area of policy and I look forward to working with the Government, the Association for the Conservation of Energy and local practitioners to ensure that new policy targets the fuel poor and allows many more of them to benefit.

Many of my constituents told me they couldn’t afford to heat their homes last winter. I welcome the report by the Association for the Conservation of Energy, which sheds light on the energy efficiency of the housing stock and businesses in Norwich South constituency and commend the work that the City Council, local installers and programme managers have done in recent years to implement energy saving features in homes, such as better insulation and more efficient boilers. This government needs to stop handing out multi-billion pound tax cuts for a selected few. Instead it should invest in energy efficiency measures which benefit all of us now and by reducing carbon emissions will benefit all of our children in the future too.

I know that fuel poverty is a significant issue, and that many of my constituents were very concerned about the cost of heating their homes last winter.I welcome the report by the Association for the Conservation of Energy, which sheds light on the energy efficiency of the housing stock and businesses across the Eddisbury constituency and commend the work that local installers and programme managers have done in recent years to implement energy saving features in homes, such as better insulation and more efficient boilers. This report does however demonstrate the need for a long-term energy efficiency policy to tackle these issues.
